In a game that has so much to do with statistics and averages, Jonty Rhodes’ contribution to South African cricket puts him in Living Legend status. While showing huge talent with hockey stick and cricket bat, Jonty is most noted for gravity-defying agility on the cricket field. His lightning quick reflexes prevented scores of potential runs and kept many a batsman inside their crease. In 1993 he took a world record of 5 catches against the West Indies and in 1999 was voted Wisden Cricketer of the Year. As an epileptic he has contributed unselfishly to foundations that support and aid those dealing with epilepsy.
